Annual Meeting – 2/11/19
Call to Order: President Dolly Robinson called the meeting to order at 5:32 PM.
Members in attendance included the following: Dolly Robinson, Mike Null, Joe Hinkle, Linda Williams, Recie Davis, Marcia Kazmierski, Nelson Rivera, and Liza Viplav.
Approval of Minutes: Motion was made by M. Null to approve the minutes of January 14, 2019 as presented; seconded by J. Hinkle. The motion carried unanimously.
Annual Meeting: M. Kazmierski, chair of the Nomination Committee, presented a slate of fifteen (15) names for consideration to serve as Board of Directors of the LCCCTA for the new year starting immediately at the conclusion of the annual meeting of 2019.
The proposed slate of directors included: Dolly Robinson, John Lear, Mike Null, Linda Williams, Joe Hinkle, Glenn Hunter, Marcia Kazmierski, Tom Moore, Laura Hunter, Recie Davis, Liza Viplav, Nelson Rivera, Laura Null, Richard Johnson and James Montgomery.
Motion was made by M. Kazmierski to approve the slate of proposed Board of Directors for the new year; seconded by M. Null.
Motion carried unanimously.President Robinson then suspended the meeting to allow the Board of Directors to meet and elect officers for the new year.
M. Kazmierksi submitted a proposed slate of officers as the Board of Directors:

Vice President: Mike Null
Secretary: Linda Williams
Treasurer: Joe Hinkle
Motion by M. Kazmierski to approve the slate of officers; seconded by R. Davis. Motion carried unanimously.
The Board of Director’s meeting was closed by D. Robinson and the Annual meeting reconvened.
Old Business: L. Viplav reported she and George English visited three schools in Columbia County to share about the USTA SHAPE PE tennis curriculum lesson plans, including Summers Elementary, Belmont Academy and Covenant Community School.
L. Viplav plans to visit two additional schools this week.
M. Null gave a status report on the new tennis court construction planned by the City of Lake City; he reported that the project was still in the design stage and has already been funded by the City. No date at this time has been provided for construction of the courts, although M. Null has encouraged City employees to move the project up on their schedule such that these courts be available for peak seasons in spring and summer.
President Robinson suggested that the proposed Brew Ball event at Halpatter Brewing Company be put on hold at this time in order to allow time for planning upcoming summer youth programs. All members in attendance agreed.
New Business: M. Null let the group know that Coach Tom Moore needs immediate assistance in coaching new tennis players on the CHS Boy’s tennis team. The team practices at 3 PM at the high school and tennis matches begin February 12th.
Note: Columbia County School District (CCSD) online volunteer applications must be completed annually for those interested in assisting.
M. Null represented LCCCTA at the re-dedication of Westside Recreation Center’s tennis courts in Gainesville on February 2nd, 2019. The tennis court complex is owned by the City of Gainesville, but is now managed by USTA, providing a tennis professional.
M. Null shared with the group that City of Madison will be hosting a dedication of their four 34’ courts with Pro tennis player Mal Washington making a guest appearance; the date will be March 30th , 2019.
M. Null plans to attend and would like to have representatives from LCCCTA also attend.
N. Rivera and M. Null reported that Pierce Kelley of Youth Tennis Foundation (YTF) has expressed interest in providing grant money if LCCCTA should be interested in establishing Youth Team Tennis. Our association is very appreciative of the significant grant funding that Pierce Kelley and YTF have provided for our youth programs for several years.
Coach L. Viplav and President Robinson believe we must grow young players (6-8 graders) before we can start a tennis team.
L. Viplav thinks we could begin a 9-11 AM morning tennis camp at Tennis Forever from June 3rd -7th. Once the details are worked out, contact will be made with Pierce Kelley to ask if our summer tennis camp will be eligible for YTF grant funding.
President Robinson asked L. Williams to contact the Boy’s and Girl’s Club, as well as Richardson Community Center (RCC), to determine June summer weeks/morning times that our CTA can provide tennis activities for their youth.
M. Null shared email information from L. Chak regarding the USTA Alachua District offering a Singles Flexible League from February 23-April 1, 2019. If you should be interested in playing, please contact L. Chak just as soon as possible. There will be a minimal charge to play in this league.
M. Null notified the group that both he and Laura Null will conduct a youth sports camp while on a church Missions trip in the Bahamas during the third week in June. He requested to borrow LCCCTA tennis racquets, tennis balls, and caution tape for this camp.
L. Williams made a motion to allow them to utilize the tennis equipment and J. Hinkle seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously, L. Viplav said Tennis Forever will not offer memberships at this time. However, players may contact them to book a tennis court and the cost to play will be $10 per hour.
J. Hinkle requested funding for 5 ft. or 8 ft. benches at the Fort White Community Center tennis courts. It was suggested by L. Viplav that he make contact with USTA for that funding and our CTA name, ‘LCCCTA’, could be placed on those benches.
Treasurer’s Report: J. Hinkle reported that the account balance is $1,378.63, subject to the insurance premium check clearing in the amount of $205.00 and also the Fort White Chamber of Commerce check clearing in the amount of $20.00.
President Robinson adjourned the meeting at 6:45 PM.
