The last day of registering will be April 1st, the first day of the spring camp. USTA FL tennis rackets will be available to participants and groups will be divided by tennis ability levels: beginner, advanced beginner, and intermediate beginner. Volunteer coaches will be necessary.
President M. Null reviewed the history of initial planning and formation of LCCCTA. The organization has promoted tennis in our community since 2014; becoming incorporated as a 501(c)(3) in May 2015. Immediate Past President, Dolly Robinson was also instrumental in the foundation of our community tennis association. It has been decided that a committee will plan a 10th Anniversary Celebration for May 2025, inviting elected officials and the community to the Youngs Park tennis courts.
D. Robinson offered to contact some avid tennis players for possible tennis exhibition matches as a highlight for the celebration, and check on refreshments. The committee will set up regular meetings to plan, organize, and implement this special event.
President M. Null announced that Debbi Carter will continue to coordinate the Tuesday Tennis Socials, although she will not remain a LCCCTA Board member.
E. Xi Amaru reported on the Adult Tennis Socials and said Tuesday evening Socials continue to have more participants than Thursday evenings, with about 4-5 players. The Tennis Social time was changed to 6pm and the revised time has been posted on flyers at the tennis courts, as well as posted on social media.
D. Robinson remarked that it was great that L. Hunter-Null had previously asked G.English of USTA FL if LCCCTA could obtain brochures for the very successful, USTA’s ‘Love to Learn/Love to Play’ Program. The brochures are perfect to gain interest from local players. The 6-week program involves tennis professionals instructing participants during the first 3 weeks of ‘Learn to Love’, and the following 3 weeks of ‘Learn to Play’, adult beginners play against each other, and against tennis volunteers.
President M. Null thanked everyone for their time and support and adjourned the meeting at 6:59 PM.
Next tentative meeting schedule for Monday, March 10, 2025 at 5:30 PM.
