LCCCTA Declares December 9, 2025 as Adult Coordinators Day
Since its founding in May 2015, the Lake City Columbia Community Tennis Association (LCCCTA) has been dedicated to promoting tennis as a fun and healthy form of recreation for all Columbia County residents. From the beginning, our mission has been to encourage active lifestyles, strengthen connections between adults and youth, and create a true sense of community through the game of tennis.
Over the years, LCCCTA has partnered with local government officials and community leaders to address the need for more accessible and well-maintained tennis facilities in Lake City and Columbia County. Through grants, fundraising, and countless volunteer hours, our organization has made significant strides—most notably with the construction of four new tennis courts at Youngs Park in downtown Lake City, completed in December 2020.
Since then, we’ve proudly hosted over 25 youth tennis camps and clinics, helping young players learn the game, build confidence, and make lifelong friends both on and off the court.
However, as youth programs flourished, organized adult tennis in Columbia County had begun to decline—largely due to a lack of safe and available court space. Recognizing this gap, a group of passionate volunteers stepped forward to reignite the spirit of adult play in our community.
We’d like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to Anita Houston, Steven Ashton, Debbie Carter, and Eshu Xi Amaru, who took the lead in organizing and promoting adult tennis at Youngs Park. Their dedication embodies the spirit of Arthur Ashe’s timeless advice:
“Start where you are; use what you have; do what you can.”
Thanks to their enthusiasm and commitment, our courts are now alive with energy—hosting adult players on multiple courts, several days each week.
To honor their efforts and the positive impact they’ve made, LCCCTA proudly declares December 9, 2025 as Adult Coordinators Day, a special day of recognition for our incredible volunteers who have helped bring adult tennis back to life in Columbia County.
Let’s celebrate their leadership, passion, and love for the game that continues to unite our community.
