Columbia County Commission Provides New Shade Structure

Lake City Columbia Community Tennis Association is excited to announce that a spectator shade structure has been erected just in time for our 7th Annual James Montgomery Summer Youth Tennis Camp.

Funding for the new shade structure was provided by our Columbia County Commission who generously supports quality of life facilities for the betterment of youth and adults alike in Columbia County. This new shade structure located over the bleachers between the two banks of courts at Youngs Park provides a much needed shade area for parents and spectators to watch the kids and others playing on the courts.

LCCCTA is very grateful of the support by the County in funding this additional facility, particularly for a park owned by the City of Lake City. The partnership between the City, the County and LCCCTA has clearly demonstrated success in reestablishing tennis as a major activity for kids and adults within our community. A special thank you to Commissioner Murphy for taking a lead on the funding and for Parks/Landscape Director Clint Pittman for providing construction supervision.

As we wrap up the Summer Youth Tennis Camp on June 20th, we would like to dedicate this new shade structure provided by County funds. You are invited to this dedication at Youngs Park in Lake City at 9:30 AM on June 20, 2024. Refreshments will be made available as brief comments are made to continue our endeavor to promote tennis within our community.
